Mercedez Benz AMG 500SL 6.0-4V by Tamiya

The Mercedes-Benz 500SL was first introduced during the 1989 Geneva show, and is truly an outstanding vehicle. It is looked upon by the industry as one of the best in automotive history. The techonologial wonders seen in the SL have been further enhanced to meet consumer tastes, by the AMG firm of Germany. This firm is well known for their Mercedes-backed up Group A racing achievements and tune-up prowess. Designated the AMG 500SL 6.0-4V, this fascinating machine is powered by a souped-up engine and externally finished in AMG designed aero parts. The standard 5 liter, V8 cylinder DOHC engine has been enlarged to a 6 liter displacement, and is said to yield about 381 horsepower. With this added power, the SL demands the ultimate in chassis tune-up which is apply provided for by AMG. The AMG 17 inch wheels are fitted with Dunlop's SP Sports D40 tires that guarantee optimum safety and performance. The SL's handsome long-nose, wedge-shaped, aerodynamic styling is given the aggressive touch by modifications like the front and rear bumper aprons, side-skirts, and rear spoilers. These additional features provide the utmost stability during high speed travel. The interior is finished even more luxurious and sporty than the already comfortable 500SL. THe four spoke AMG steering wheel and the white meters shows the typical AMG-touch. AMG has taken their Group A racing experience and expertise to produce a vehicle balanced to perfection, bringing sports car enthusiasts the ultimate in driving comfort and pleasure.
